Ed and Bev Nation owned Roselawn Lodge, located on the Moon River in Bala. In 1989, Bev and her daughter Heather began making fudge in the lodge kitchen during the evening hours. Guests, cottagers and tourists enjoyed the Lucky Duck fudge for many years.
In 2007, Bev sold the Fudgery business to Beth Ann Burgess and it became one of the cornerstones in Beth Ann’s store, Docktails. Bev stayed on and taught Beth Ann and Chris all she knew about fudge making. After two years, Beth Ann went back to school and her Mom, Chris, a retired teacher, took over the Lucky Duck Fudgery. The store closed, the fudge was moved to an approved kitchen and the sweet treat was made for retail businesses around Muskoka.
